If you have a pinched nerve in your shoulder you'll have a sharp pain in the one arm.

The arm may also feel numb or you may lose the sensation in the arm, pins and needles or tingling feeling may also happen when you have a pinched nerve in your shoulder as well as a burning sensation.

Usually a pinched nerve will go away without treatment but sometimes you may need to seek medical treatment if it doesn't go away within 48 hours.

A pinched nerve frequently is associated with pain in the neck or lower back.

This type of pain can be caused by inflammation or pressure on the nerve root as it exits the spine.

If the pain is severe or lasts a long time, you may need to have further evaluation from your physician.

A pinched nerve occurs when too much pressure (compression) is applied to a nerve by surrounding tissues.

In some cases, this tissue might be bone or cartilage, such as in the case of a herniated spinal disk that compresses a nerve root.

In other cases, muscle or tendons may cause the condition.

The most frequently recommended treatment for a pinched nerve is rest for the affected area.

Your doctor will ask you to stop any activities that cause or aggravate the compression.

Depending on the location of the pinched nerve, you may need a splint, collar or brace to immobilize the area.

Most times a pinched nerve will go away on it's own within time.

But you can try changing your posture, doing yoga, stretching or apply heat or ice to the area that the pinched nerve is at.

Sometimes if the pinched nerve doesn't eventually go away you may need to seek medical attention but that's rare and with doing the above Yoga or other stretching exercises or applying the heat and ice should make the pinched nerve go away.

Also if you're sitting at your desk maybe try standing at your desk for awhile if possible.

Sometimes standing for awhile instead of sitting so much can help relieve a pinched nerve.
