It's because you're anticipating something and waiting rooms are just so boring. There's literally nothing else to do but either watch tv, browse your phone, read magazines or pace the floor.
If I'm just taking someone to the doctors office then I will just drop them off and tell them to give me a call once their appointment is over.
Instead of wasting time waiting in the waiting room I'll get what I need to do done.
