Do you have to bleed your brakes when you change the brake pads?

You only need to bleed your brakes after opening the bleeder valve and although opening the bleeder valve is how most shops change the brake pads to get the caliper retracted you can in most cases just use a clamp and an old brake pad to squeeze the caliper back enough to remove and replace the brake pads and then you usually don't need to bleed the brakes after changing the brake pads.
