I've been using a space heater since last month to supplement heat in my house.

I thought I would be saving money each month on my gas bill. But although my gas bill went down about $20.00 my electric bill went up to $175.00 vs the $75.00 I've been paying each month for electric.

I paid more this month on my electric bill to use the space heater and didn't save anything.

I just spent more money and could've turned up my gas furnace instead.

It depends on the cost of electricity in your area.

My electricity cost's around 12 cents per kwh.

So if I run a space heater for an hour I use roughly 15 cents or a bit more with the other charges added on.

If you run one space heater for 24 hours you would be paying around $3.60 a day which would equal $108.00 per month.

Add a second heater and you'll be looking at $7.20 a day which would make the cost $216.00 per month depending on how many days are in the month.

The cost could be higher depending on your electric rates.

Most space heaters aren't run 24 hours a day but this is just an example.

Gas heating is way cheaper and warmer.
