What age do kids stop using a highchair to eat from?

Is 5 too old to be using a highchair?

5 years old is a little old for a highchair. But if the kid still fits in it and doesn't mind sitting in it then there's nothing wrong with it.

Most kids get out of the high chair at around 2 years old.

5 is too big for a high chair and it could break on him.

There's a weight limit to those high chairs.

He might be too big age wise. But I doubt it will break on him.

I once went over to a friends house who had a baby and she had a high chair in the dining room.

We were having dinner and all the seats were taken.

The baby was sleeping so didn't need the high chair at the time.

So I told my friend I'd just pull up the high chair and sit in it as a chair "without the tray of course" at the table.

She was worried that I'd break it. But I told I doubt I would and if I did I'd buy her a new one.

I weigh 120 pounds and it held me just fine.

So although the high chair may have a weight limit of 50 lbs or so it's just a safety guideline to prevent them getting sued should the chair fail if someone who weighs more then 50 lbs sits in one.
