Is it painful to get your cat declawed?

I have a cat that has sharp claws and is always digging into my skin when it's sitting on my lap and I want to have the cat declawed but I'm not sure whether I should have the cat declawed or not?

Is declawing a cat painful to the cat?

I would recommend not having the cat declawed since the cat will be in pain after the declawing surgery and the pain will continue for awhile after the declawing surgery.

It's better to just have the cats claws trimmed instead of completely declawing the cat.
