Can the IRS collect back taxes after 10 years?

No they cannot.

The IRS can only try to collect back taxes from a taxpayer for only 10 years.

There's a statue of limitations for the IRS to collect back taxes and after 10 years they cannot force a taxpayer to pay the back taxes.

So if you haven't paid back taxes in 10 years then the IRS will not be able to pursue you for the taxes or collect them from you.
