Do federal student loans expire after 25 years?

The federal student loan doesn't expire after 25 years or any amount of years.

But as long as the person who borrowed the money for the student loan is on the income based repayment program and are making payments to the loan then after 25 years the remaining money owed on the debt will be forgiven.

You have to be making payments during that time though for the debt to be eventually forgiven after 25 years.
