If the password you need to reset is for your online Microsoft account You can easily reset your Microsoft account password by going to this link
https://account.live.com/password/reset and then follow the instructions on the page.
If the Microsoft password you need to reset is on your Windows PC then you can reset the password with the following instructions.
On your sign in screen find or type in your Microsoft account name. Then select the forgot password option.
Selecting the forgot password option should bring you to a recover your account screen. Once you're on that screen then type in the characters you see and then select next.
You should then be taken to a verify your identity screen then you can choose to receive your security code as a text or email message.
Once you receive and enter the code you then enter the code and then you should be able to reset your Microsoft account password and get back in.
