Usually you have to go around 3 months without making a credit card payment and then the credit card company will send your credit card debt to the collection agency and close your credit card account.
Some credit card companies will send the credit card debt to a collection agency a lot sooner though so it depends on the credit card company as to how fast and when they'll send your credit card debt off to a collection agency.
